In fact, the pandemic brought an unexpected bonus: we had been preparing to move our shop in May, but thanks to a change of plans by the landlord, we’re able to stay in Cowes High Street until at least spring 2021 – if we choose to.
Like everyone, we felt the impact. After a strong start to the year, lockdown closed the shop in March and we reopened in late June, working remotely in the meantime. Orders, memberships, and sales continued (though at a reduced level), and the postal service proved wonderfully reliable. With customers unable to access their boats until late in the season, and foreign sailing off the table, some chart sales inevitably dipped—but overall, we’ve managed well.
Looking ahead, we’re making a few adjustments for the rest of the season. From October 2020, our shop at 36 High Street, Cowes, will be open only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10:30am–4:30pm. You’re welcome to drop in or phone us on 01983 293757 during these times.
Outside those hours, we’ll continue working remotely to provide seven-day-a-week support. Mail orders, memberships, and correspondence will all be handled promptly, so you can order with confidence and expect the same reliable service.
