Free Android marine chart updates: 2024 to 2025

⚠️ PRICE CHECK: Download the free Android chart update to upgrade your Marine Navigator charts from 2024 to 2025.

 All Android chart updates are provided by download only, even if your original charts were supplied on DVD or USB.
This update will:

  • Update working 2024 chartsets to 2025
  • Apply only to the chart package you originally installed
  • Work only on the device where the charts are currently installed
  • Require no re-registration or re-activation

Price: Free for customers who bought 2024 charts.

1. Identify Your Installed Chartset

  1. Start Marine Navigator and display your charts as normal.
  2. Tap the Chart List button (two circular arrows).
  3. Note the name of the chartset currently installed.
  4. Ensure it matches one of the update options listed below.

2. Download the Correct Update

  1. Download the appropriate update directly to your target Android device.
  2. Wait until the download has fully completed.
  3. Confirm the file is located in your Downloads folder (not in “My Favourites” or any other location).
  4. Ensure Marine Navigator will be able to “see” the file when you later choose IMPORT.
  5. Do not import the file yet.

3. Remove the Old Chartset (Recommended for a Clean Update)

  1. With your existing charts visible, tap the Chart List button (2 arrows going in a circle).
  2. Tap the blue folder icon in the top-left corner (for example: vmhUK-IRL2023a ).
  3. You will see a list of installed chart folders.
  4. For a clean installation, long-press DELETE to remove the original chartset.

Available Updates

Update 1: UK / Ireland

  • Chartset: vmhUK-IRL2024b
    • Available Jan 2024 to mid-Jan 2025 (£9.99 / £14.95).
    • Bundled with Unified Charts UK/IRL 2024 (download or USB).
  • Does not update 2023 purchases (even if updated free in 2024).
  • Those must be re-purchased.

  • Chartset: vmhUK-NC2024b 
    • Available Jan 2024 to mid-Jan 2025 (approx £32).
    • Bundled with Unified Charts UK–Near Continent 2024.
  • Does not update 2023 purchases.

Update 3: “All” Coverage

  • Chartset: vmhALL2024b
    • Available Jan 2024 to mid-Jan 2025.
    • Bundled with Unified Charts “ALL” 2024.
  • Does not update 2023 purchases.
  • Important: The “ALL” chartset will not be released again in 2025.
    If you own the 2024 edition, this is your last opportunity to update it to 2025.

4. Import the update

  1. Return to Marine Navigator.
  2. Select IMPORT and choose the .zip file you downloaded in Step 2.
  3. When the import completes:
    • Close Marine Navigator
    • Switch your Android device off, then on again

No chart re-activation is required.

5. Confirm operation

  1. Start Marine Navigator.
  2. You should see the pink progress bar rising above the Chart List button.
  3. When complete, your charts are ready for use.

⚠️ Important Verification Note

The updated chartset will keep exactly the same name and year label as the original.
To confirm the update:

  1. Open chart 0002-0 (UK–Ireland overview chart).
  2. Look near Birmingham (inland area).
  3. It will clearly show “2025 Edition” stamped on the chart.

This confirms your charts have been successfully updated.
