Running down wind to Rye Dylan shows us his self steering (a
subject he returns to in later videos) which consists of a bungee
to damp down tiller movement. It is here that his mention (in the
first video) of the stability of the long central keel of his boat
becomes evident as it would be difficult to trim a single deep
keeler or even a standard bilge keeler in this way.
“The Slug” potters past the Seven Sisters to
Beachy Head where its merits as a suicide spot are discussed before
a quick Google transit to Rye. On the way he passes an old
Lowestoft Steam drifter west bound, explaining its conversion to a
corporate hospitality ship (the fate of many an old restored wooden
ship).
Finally we chug three miles up the river to Rye at the end of the
day looking at the various sights along the river bank in the
sunset which Dylan describes as “utterly
brilliant”
