Tollesbury

We potter down the Blackwater with the ebbing tide and turn hard to port up Tollesbury Creek the home of the “Mud Club”. We are introduced to the Christian Sailing School which comes in for a bit of gentle ribbing. This piece of water has its own special madness, the walkways (which are permanent structures) vanish under the water at High Water, as does the boat park and the front roads of the village. Boats here sit in mud berths and again our hero’s boat settles overnight with a list to port and it’s raining. Unperturbed, our hero settles down with a book to wait for the rain to stop and the tide to return his boat to an even keel.
