Dylan gets a sail in a Winkle Brigg which is a lifting keel, lugsail gaff rigged open boat. We get a demonstration of the sail shape and its performance on either tack and there is a discussion of merits of roller reefing and its origins. They also have a chat about the merits of life jackets (which neither of them have bothered with!) and their approval of the new generation of young sailors who don them as a matter of course. It’s a very interesting video and any sailor will run it back and forward to examine the running rigging to work out how it all functions.
