Riding the tide up the Colne

This video is the result of stitching together of several bits of filming whilst wandering up the river Colne in varying conditions of wind and tide. It begins with our hero feeling his way up the starboard side of the Colne against an ebbing tide with no wind in which he demonstrates the art of paddling a 19ft boat. The wind picks up a little and we gently pass Arlesford Creek. Another day with a little more wind and we sail gently into the Colne past the No17 buoy with a careful eye on the fickle echo sounder. Further up we drift further up the Colne on the incoming tide before finally we see our hero with a bit of wind up river of Arlesford Creek and tacking. The reason for the double purchase on the foresail becomes obvious; the Slug doesn’t have winches for the genny sheets!
