Much of the beginning of this 20 minute video is taken up with
an exploration of Walton on Sea, its history and development and
changes through the ages. It takes us through its passage from a
grain exporting little port to the days of
“posh” Edwardian tourism to the present day
where it is a holiday destination for the Londoners who flock here
to occupy caravans on the many caravan sites.
We then watch the tide come in and rapidly clear out for the quiet
muddy backwaters of Oakley Creek which is home to an explosives
company. We see the Creek from sea level and from the Google
satellite and spend a gentle afternoon drifting up the creek taking
in the views of mud, birds and seals.
Finally the Slug is anchored off a seal colony where we watch them
at dawn and Dylan falls in love with a “lady”
seal.
